An interim report from the Mayor of Vancouver’s housing affordability task force is recommending the establishment of a city-run authority to manage affordable housing developments.
Mayor Gregor Robertson says other highlights include providing more homes close to transit hubs.
“And the zones around them to have stacked townhouses, row homes, different types of housing that aren’t commonly seen in Vancouver.”
Robertson says similar strategies are already being used in other cities.
The 18-member task force was announced six months ago to develop a comprehensive approach to making housing more affordable in this city.
