Is the gold-leaf flaking from the bridge?

Golden Ears Bridge traffic is still under performing even though the new, tolled, Port Mann Bridge has been online for months.

Derek Zabel says about 30-thousand weekday trips have been made across the Golden Ears Bridge this year, “The preliminary 2013 traffic volume data indicates right now no significant changes to the bridge volumes since the opening of the new Port Mann.”

Port Mann operators, the T-I Corporation, spokesperson Max Logan says 100-thousand cars stream across the new span per day, “Since we opened the bridge on December 1st, we have seen about 8.5 million vehicles that have used the bridge in the last three months.”

Last year, Translink said traffic on the Golden Ears would pick up when the Port Mann opened. As of last September, revenue from the Golden Ears Bridge was down 38-million dollars.
