That’s what one Vancouver Councillor wants to know after a chunk of concrete fell from underneath the structure over the weekend.
The NPA’s George Affleck says he’s concerned after a similar incident on the Burrard Street Bridge last year and now this.
He says the City needs to focus it’s priorities especially with all the chatter about the future of the viaducts, “The viaducts are an issue. It’s politics where they go up or down, how much it will cost. So, you need to deal with safety first. That has to be priority number one and if people are potentially going to get hurt we need to deal with that first and foremost.”
Crews inspect the city’s bridges once a year and carry out regular maintenance once a month.
