The first person to to plead guilty in connection with the Stanley Cup riot is going to jail.
Judge Malcolm MacLean handed Ryan Dickinson 17 months in jail.
That’s 16 months for the charge of participating in a riot, plus one month for the charge of breach of an undertaking.
Dickinson will get credit for just over two months already served.
Neil MacKenzie speaks for the crown, and he says it’s satisfied with the outcome.
He says the sentence is within the range of what the crown had been seeking.
The judge also handed Dickinson two years probation, and ordered him to seek counselling.
