Jamie Bacon gets his own trial in the case of the Surrey Six massacre

One of the notorious Bacon brothers will face a separate trial from three other accused in the Surrey Six massacre.

Two direct indictments have been filed in BC Supreme Court that separate the trial of Jamie Bacon from the trial of Cody Haevischer, Matthew Johnston and Michael Le.

Crown Counsel spokesman Neil Mackenzie says the four will still face the same charges of of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder in the deaths of six people in a Surrey highrise back in 2007.

“Separate trials will allow Mr. Bacon to bring applications in relation to issues only involving Mr. Bacon, including issues like solicitor-client privilege that were raised before Mr. Justice McEwan in Mr. Bacon’s civil proceeding.”

Bacon has claimed his rights were violated while he was incarcerated.
