Jet fuel opponents set to rally

Richmond-area residents want a group of airlines designing a jetfuel pipeline out to YVR to hear their concerns.
So they plan to hold a rally at an open house hosted by the airlines today.
Carol Day is chair of the Vancouver Airport Pipeline Opposition for Richmond, or VAPOR.

“We want the airlines to wake up, listen to the people and do the environmentally responsible thing, which is to abandon the marine terminal and jet fuel tankers on the Fraser River.”

Richmond mayor Malcolm Brodie says he’s opposed to the pipeline, saying it has too many risks, as well.
The current proposal from the Vancouver Airport Fuel Facilities Corporation would see a pipeline run under Highway 99, with an offloading facility on the river’s south arm.
The open house is set for 10 am to 2 pm at the East Richmond Community Hall.
