Jim Chu updates business community on riots

Vancouver’s top cop spent the early part of his afternoon updating the business community on the riot investigation.

It was a show and tell for Chief Jim Chu who played luncheon guests a video of one of his officers taking a brick to the head on the night of the riot.

“Mike staggered around for a while, then he passed out.”

Meanwhile, Chu says the last person to plead guilty to rioting in BC  was given jail time, but he cautions each case from June 15 is different.

“And there may be some cases where something less than jail time is appropriate. I’ll leave that up to the judges.”

Seven months later and only one accused rioter has so far pleaded guilty.

“I wasn’t expecting more because we’re familiar with how the courts work.”
