Kamloops accountants catch giant sturgeon on Fraser River

A huge sturgeon caught in the Fraser River on Friday near Chilliwack is likely over 100 years old.

Dr. Marvin Rosenau has studied sturgeon for the past 21 years, he says fish that large is an old-timer.

“That fish has gone through a couple of world wars, conflicts, so it’s had a long history”.

The fish caught friday was over eleven feet long, five feet around and weighed in at over one thousand pounds.

A group of accountants from Kamloops bagged the giant after a battle that lasted almost an hour.

The sturgeon was tagged and released.
