Los Angeles police now say they do not suspect foul play in the death of 21-year-old Elisa Lam.
The young Vancouver woman was found dead inside a water tank at a downtown L.A. hotel last week, after disappearing from the place three weeks earlier.
Det. Tim Marcia says investigators have no reason to believe her death was because of foul play, but they still have to wait for toxicology test results, due back in six to eight weeks.
“We have to wait until we get the final results from the coroner’s office. We’ve done a comprehensive investigation with interviewing everybody at the hotel, so now it’s just a waiting game to see what the results of the autopsy are.”
Lam’s family reported her missing at the end of January when she suddenly stopped calling home.
Police say they don’t know why she was travelling in California, but that her final destination appeared to be Santa Cruz.
