Nearly a decade after two men from West Vancouver were convicted of murdering the parents and autistic sister of one of the accused, they’ve lost their latest bid for a new trial.
Last month, a panel of five judges heard a petition from Sebastian Burns and Atif Rafay to overturn their 2004 conviction.
Because their decision wasn’t unanimous, all nine judges in the Supreme Court of Washington State had to vote on it.
They’ve now ruled to deny the review.
Rafay’s parents and sister were murdered at their home outside Seattle in the summer of 1994.
Both killers were 28 when they were sentenced ten years later to 99 years in prison.
