Costs linked to BC’s ongoing Missing Women Inquiry must still be finalized, but a prominent Vancouver lawyer is dismissing suggestions he’s trying to have hearings extended so he can make more money.
The total estimated price tag recently topped four million dollars.
Cameron Ward, who’s representing the families of 25 victims, is offering assurances his salary is not an issue, even though he’s repeatedly complained about time constraints, “I can see how some members of the public might have that view given the public perception of lawyers generally, but I wish I could conclude this case immediately and get on with other things; but I’m going to continue to do my best to see that this inquiry reaches an appropriate conclusion. That, I see as my job.”
The Provincial Government is covering Ward’s legal fees, which have not yet been disclosed.
