A legal victory for a former Liberal cabinet minister, in his attempt to get more answers about the controversial six-million dollar Basi-Virk deal.
The BC Supreme Court has granted John van Dongen’s request for intervenor status in a court case, where BC’s auditor general is trying to get information from defense lawyers about the government’s decision to pay for legal fees for convicted staffers David Basi and Bobby Virk.
“As an MLA, as a legislator, I have an interest in assisting the auditor general, where I can, get full unfettered access..”
Van Dongen says this is an issue that still is in the minds of many British Columbians, and part of the reason he defected from the BC Liberals.
