Lengthy wait for RCMP officer

It will take almost a year for an RCMP officer accused of impaired driving to go to trial.

Constable Tina Kerton was charged with one count each of operating a vehicle while impaired, and exceeding the blood alochol limit — after crashing her car in January.

She was off-duty at the time of her arrest on Highway One, near the 160th street overpass, and was immediately issued a 90-day driving ban and 24-hour roadside prohibition.

After pleading not guilty — a two-day trial  is not set to begin until July 17th – 2013.

Kerton has been on desk duty since the crash.
