A senior official at the Liquor Distribution Branch has resigned his post.
Jay Chambers has resigned as general manager of the liquor distribution branch–and no word yet why.
But the L-D-B is currently the subject of a controversial move to privatize part of its services.
The provincial government is soliciting bids from the private sector to distribute liquor in BC, a move the NDP has blasted as bad for consumers.
The opposition has demanded the government’s business case for the move, so far to no avail, but minister responsible Rich Coleman has denied claims the sale will lead to higher prices.
The request for proposals for liquor distribution closes at the end of this month.
