Residents of Langley Township say it’s a dangerous stretch of road that needs to be widened.
Yesterday, 16th Avenue was the scene of yet another crash, this time near 208th Street.
An elderly couple from Surrey was killed when their S-U-V collided head-on with a dump truck.
Township Mayor Jack Froese says improving the busy east-west connector is at the top of his list.
“It needs widening, it needs proper barricades…I think it’s just outdated for the use that it’s getting now.”
But Froese says the township can’t go it alone, he’s calling on the province for funding.
“I’m meeting with Minister Polak very soon. being that she is responsible for this area as MLA for Langley, she knows the issues.”
Mounties are still investigating yesterday’s crash, but they suspect driver error.
