Man convicted in 2008 Langley road rage death to be sentenced Thursday

The family of a 21-year-old man mowed down and killed in 2008 is set to finally get some closure Thursday.

Forty-three-year-old Brent Parent was found guilty earlier this year of several charges, including criminal negligence causing death, in a case of road rage.

A B.C. Supreme Court judge found he had deliberately swerved his truck one night in Langley four years ago at three young men standing on the edge of the road – after their vehicle had rubbed against his.

O’Brien was killed.

Crown has argued Parent should spend eight years in jail, with a 15-year driving ban, while the defence wants three to four years, without a driving ban because Parent must drive for work.

O’Brien and his two friends had been driving to the airport, to a fly off on vacation.
