An elderly man has died in hospital after being fished out of the pool at Vancouver’s Hillcrest community centre.
Park board vice-chair Aaron Jasper says it happened yesterday and the man was alive when staff got to him.
“When he was rescued out of the pool, he had a heartbeat and a pulse so he was transported immediately to the hospital. He was rescued in time. As I said, everything was done right to the book and every procedure was followed appropriately.”
Jasper says the park board was informed the man died in hospital last night.
He also says the incident did not require the pool to be drained and then re-filled.
