Man pleads guilty in deadly highway crash

It was supposed to be the start of his trial.

But instead, the driver of a car that plowed into the back of a minivan stopped in the HOV lane stopped on Highway One four years ago, has pleaded guilty to driving without due care and attention.

The crash in November of 2008 left nine year old Andrew Moeller and his six year old brother Matthew dead.

Their eight year old brother Karl was left paralyzed.

All three boys were sitting in the third seat of the family van, when their mother, who was driving, stopped the vehicle in the HOV lane of Highway One through Coquitlam when smoke started to pour through vents.

31 year old Ryan Miller’s vehicle plowed into the back of the van.

The crown says there was no evidence of excessive speeding by Miller, just ” a momentary lapse in judgement”.

Sentencing will happen later.
