A man whose personal information may have been compromised by a now-former ICBC employee is taking the Crown corporation to court.
In a notice of civil claim, Ufuk Ari is seeking extensive damages after receiving a letter from ICBC on March 1 saying his private information had been compromised by an employee.
The letter says the unauthorized access may be related to an ongoing criminal investigation.
Ari claims he was even questioned by Mounties who wanted to know where he was on certain dates in 2010. But he claims the RCMP wouldn’t tell him why they were questioning him.
An ICBC claims adjuster was fired for accessing the information of more than 60 people, including 14 individuals who all have ties to the Justice Institute of BC who were victims of arsons or shootings.
A statement of defence has not yet been filed and none of these allegations have been proven in court.
