Map of Trans Mountain pipeline revealed

A map of the Trans Mountain pipeline has been revealed.

Kennedy Stewart, the New Democrat NP for Burnaby-Douglas, says Kinder Mountain refused to provide one, so, with taxpayer funds, he hired a private company to draw one up.

“It shows you how close it comes to people’s homes, schools, community amenities, parks – and just how intrusive a project this is going to be if it does go ahead.”

The map, posted on Stewart’s website, shows what he calls a “spider web” of pipelines running from North Road, under Simon Fraser University, down to the Chevron refinery.

The project initially planned to bring double the amount of oil from Alberta to Burrard Inlet, though plans have fluctuated.

“The natural resources minister – I’ve asked him to guarantee that no houses will be expropriated or demolished. He’s refused to answer that question. I have asked for assurances from Kinder Morgan. I haven’t heard anything yet.”

Stewart says residents will be able to voice any concerns when Kinder Morgan applies to the National Energy Board in June or July.
