Metro Vancouver proposing up to $12 increase

Metro Vancouver is proposing up to a $ 12 increase per household in its upcoming budget.
The regional district is putting together its 2013-2014 budget.
Chair Greg Moore has asked staff to include in proposals a less than 2.5% increase in services per household.
Moore says the cost pressures right now are several major infrastructure projects.
These include replacing the Lions Gate sewer treatment plant and adding major crossings to connect sewer and water south of the Fraser.
Moore says the total price tag for future infrastructure is about 5 billion dollars.
Staff are expected to come back with a more solid picture of the budget in the fall.
