Missing Women Commissioner Wally Oppal is determined to complete his final report for the Provincial Government, as ordered, by the end of June, but that means hearings slated to wrap up this month will continue into May.
A series of public forums will be held the first two weeks followed by testimony from at least a dozen more witnesses.
Commission Counsel Art Vertlieb says they’re still hoping RCMP Corporal Catherine Galliford, the Media Liaison for the Missing Women Task Force, can testify, “If she’s able to to speak to him at the Commission on Police Accountability on May 8th. Obviously, he’s not going to be issuing subpoenas to compel people, but he’s left that clearly in his directive.”
Galliford hasn’t worked in four years and she recently filed a sexual harassment complaint against the RCMP prompting a class action lawsuit by dozens of other officers.
