Mission Mountie to go on trial

A Mountie accused of getting into a fight outside a Pitt Meadows bar last summer is set to go to trial next year.

Sergeant Miriam Dickson, a non-commissioned officer in Mission, faces two counts of assaulting a peace officer, wilfully resisting or obstructing a peace officer and causing a disturbance.

A woman had started arguing with a male customer, and then assaulted two mounties who had been on patrol nearby and tried to break them up.

Dickson was off-duty at the time of the offence last June.

She is undergoing an internal code of conduct review by the RCMP.

The force says she remains ‘not operational,’ with pay.

She is set to go to trial next October.
