A 10-million-dollar class action lawsuit against the restaurant was certified in March.
It was on behalf of about 70 temporary foreign workers, most from the Phillipines, who claim Denny’s promised them work, but made them pay recruiting fees and airfare, and then never actually gave them the work.
Now, lawyer Charles Gordon says some workers claim the company is harassing them to opt out of the lawsuit, “In fact, they indicated to them that if they opt out, they would assist them with their claims to stay in Canada and if they stayed in the class, they would not assist them.”
Gordon says about 19 workers so far have opted out.
None of these allegations have been proven in Court.
