More signs of internal woes within the BC Conservative party

The Vice President of the BC Conservative party is urging members to vote yes to a leadership review at the party’s annual general meeting.

In an email obtained by CKNW Ben Besler says a yes vote in a leadership review would help the provincial Tories to a better outcome in the next election.

Besler also tell members there is still time to make necessary adjustments.

Leader John Cummins is facing some internal dissent with at least one other member of the board of directors looking for a change at the top.

But other members of the board are quick to say most within the party support Cummins, despite a few unhappy BC Tories.

A vote of 50% plus one in the leadership review at the September 22nd AGM would trigger a leadership election.

If that happens a leadership vote would take place at a later date.

below is the email in full

 Dear fellow BC Conservative Members:

It has been an honour serving the membership of the BC Conservative Party, since 2009, in the capacities of Constituency Association President, Regional Director and now Vice President.

I have always tried to serve you, our members, with this in mind: that respect can only be earned where first it is given. With this in mind, I am writing today to address the concerns expressed to this office, and to clarify issues that have been highlighted by organisers and membership this past week, especially issues centering on the leadership review, for which you should have finally received ballots.

Next year’s General Election is of vital importance. We do have time to make the necessary adjustments that will promote an environment of competence, hard work, and dedication to public service, that will lead our province to a stable tomorrow.

A leadership review can be the vehicle that not only promotes the party, but brings openness and clarity as to this party’s objectives.

To strengthen the party’s position in this province and to ensure a more favourable outcome in the General Election, I recommend a “YES”vote to the leadership review/election.

 Ben Besler
 Vice President
 BC Conservative Party
