More than 200 gather to honour slain teen

Family and friends of slain SFU student Maple Batalia were moved to tears as more than 200 people showed up to a vigil marking the one year anniversary of her death.

Batalia, a health sciences student and aspiring actress and model, was gunned down in the parking lot of SFU’s Surrey campus.

Her sister, Roseleen says her family is devastated, but hope celebrating her life will keep her case alive.

“Just a final plea to anyone out there that knows something in regards to her case or was there at SFU to please just come forward and do the right thing.”

While police say they do have persons of interest, no one has been arrested in connection with Batalia’s murder.
