The NDP’s public safety critic is calling for the BC Liberals to join them in presenting a united front to Ottawa opposing coast guard cuts.
Kathy Corrigan says the federal government is refusing to listen to stakeholders who are telling them, to a man, closing Kits base is a bad idea.
Corrigan says it is time for the opposition and the BC government to act.
“I find it frustrating that we have a provincial government that has been pretty darn quiet in this and we have certainly offered to work with the provincial government Adrian Dix made the offer to go to Ottawa if necessary it has to be aunited British Columbia and I see that happening non-political non-partisan.”
Corrigan also doesn’t buy the fisheries minister saying the closing of Kits base won’t equal a downloaded cost onto municipalities.
