NDP sticking with nominated candidate in Vancouver False Creek after reviewing complaint

The BC NDP have thrown out a complaint by former Park Board Commissioner Constance Barnes over the nomination in Vancouver False Creek.

Barnes’ campaign lodged the complaint after losing the candidacy by six votes to political newcomer Matt Toner.

“The complaint was reviewed, and was found to be without merit.  So at this point it has been put to rest, and we’re moving forward with the candidate that was nominated,” said NDP Communication Director Michael Roy.

Roy says there were no complaints lodged the day of the nomination vote November 17th.

When the results came in, Barnes camp said they would seek legal action over concerns on who was allowed to vote.

They withdrew that comment later the same night wishing Toner luck in the May Provincial Election.
