NDP sweeps both Port Moody-Coquitlam and Chilliwack-Hope

It is a night of victory for the BC NDP.

The party’s candidates in the races for Port Moody-Coquitlam and Chilliwack-Hope have taken both ridings.

Joe Trasolini has taken the riding of Port Moody-Coquitlam.

Despite declaring he was the underdog in the race, the former Port Moody mayor easily swept the traditionally Liberal riding.

Trasolini was up against the BC Liberals’ Dennis Marsden and the BC Conservatives’ Christine Clarke.

Marsden has come in second, and Clarke in third.

Meanwhile, Gwen O’Mahony has won the riding of Chilliwack-Hope.

This is the first time ever a left-wing party has captured the riding.

Running against O’Mahony was Laurie Throness with the BC Liberals, who has come in second, and John Martin with the BC Conservatives who has come third.
