NDP tourism critic calling out Liberals for leaky stadium roof

BC Place officials say we shouldn’t be alarmed that the stadium’s new roof continues to leak.

But the NDP’s tourism critic points out the problem should’ve been fixed by now.

Spencer Chandra Herbert says, “PavCo and the BC Liberals said in September that the leak was temporary, it would be all fixed up in a week or two. Here we are months and months later and it’s still leaking, and they’re telling us it may take more months before anything gets done to fix the problem.”

He says  the apparent flip-flop shouldn’t surprise anyone.

“This just follows PavCo and the BC Liberals’ approach to BC Place.  They told us it’s 365 million, of course it’s now 563 million.  They told us it would open in July. It took to the end of September to open.”

PavCo officials point out any repairs would be paid for by the contractor PCL and not BC Place.
