While the provincial government continues to drop hints about changes to tourism marketing, the NDP is hoping they get on with it already.
Tourism critic Spencer Chandra-Herbert says the Liberals are dragging their heels.
“Christy Clark announced when she was running to be Liberal premier that this was going to be a top priority for tourism,” says Chandra-Herbert. “ Since then, it’s been about a year, we’ve had no action, just talk. Again this week we have more talk with promises that maybe something will happen by next year. Meanwhile, the tourism industry is in the tank.”
Chandra-Herbert says the government was wrong to scrap the industry led Tourism B.C in 2010, and recent hints from Tourism Minister Pat Bell suggest the new model may still leave the government in charge.
