Noisy protest greets NEB Public Hearing into Enbridge Pipeline proposal

The entrance to Vancouver’s Wall Centre Hotel was surrounded for hours Monday night by protesters wanting into the Enbridge Pipeline hearings.

The hearing at the Wall Centre Hotel was only for those who got on the speakers list in advance and the media.

A so-called “Public Viewing Area” was set up a few kilometers away at the Westin Bayshore Hotel where less than a dozen people turned up to watch the proceedings on a big screen.

Protesters at the Wall Centre like Brenda Cooke said the process is flawed, “It’s so crazy. How can it be a public hearing if you’re not allowing the public to be a part of it? It’s kind of indictative of the government not consulting.”

Police kept watch over the noisy crowd to make sure the hotel wasn’t stormed.
