The operator of the summer night market in Richmond says its vendors may be in danger of losing business now that another night market, the original Richmond market, has been approved by the City, to reopen.
The original market lost its lease for its location on Vulcan Way five years ago, and the operator of the current market, Lions Communications, took over the lease.
Lions Communications’ Paul Cheung is concerned that with an additional market this year as well as other summer events, the vendors at the current market will lose business, “With the amount of people that we have, not everyone is a shopper and people do come down and they come for the food but not everyone’s a shopper, so the amount of people may seem like there’s a lot, but the amount of spending is quite limited.”
The original market is set to reopen on Duck Island, near the River Rock Casino.
