Number of pin setups and gutter balls appear limited

People opposed to the demolition of Vancouver’s “Varsity Ridge Bowl” at Arbutus and West 15th Avenue will be marching to City Hall Tuesday afternoon.

Mel Lehan is one of the organizers of the march. He says the alley is a very important part of many peoples’ lives, “Seniors love it. They come there, the Golden Age Leagues; young people with disabilities love to come in and bowl, they even have people in wheelchairs bowling; and of course, school kids come in all the time and bowl.”

Cressey Development Group bought the block where the alley is, last year. It’s planning to replace the businesses there with a development that would include retail space and condos.
