Occupy Vancouver back to protect forests

Occupy Vancouver has returned to the streets of the downtown core, this time to protest the logging of old-growth forests along the coast.

But while the movement has been out of the public eye for some time, many organization problems remain.

A group of just over 20 protesters set up shop outside the Bentall 5 tower, watched by an almost equal number of police officers and security.

VPD: “Did you want me to answer your question?”

Occupier: “Please!”

VPD: “Then stop talking so I can answer your question.”

Occupier: “Does the public have access to…”

VPD: “You’re talking, sir…”

While the building’s owners are letting the demonstrators stay outside, they’ve banned any tents.

Occupier: “Is this territory, this land right here, the same as a private owner’s lawn?”

VPD: “Yes, that’s correct.”

VPD: “If you disagree with that, sir, you can address it in a court room. That’s not something I can address for you today.”

The protesters plan to stay until noon Sunday.
