A Vancouver Police officer has been given a conditional discharge, for striking a prisoner in a patrol wagon last August.
Constable Matt Charles David McKinnon was also handed a six month probation term, and ordered to pay a victim surcharge.
Police say McKinnon replaced a wagon driver who was pricked by a needle concealed in the clothing of the prisoner she was searching.
And after asking the prisoner whether he had any communicable diseases, McKinnon entered the wagon and assaulted him.
Since then, he has been reassigned to desk duties.
