A West Vancouver man who ripped off people wanting tickets to key 2010 Olympic events has been sentenced.
Sean McConnell Stuart has received a 12-month conditional sentence, after pleading guilty last month, to pocketing more than $ 60,000 from people desperate for tickets to the most sought-after Olympic events, including the opening ceremonies, the men’s gold medal hockey game, and figure skating.
He sold fake tickets on the Internet, and took off to the U.S.
But the 32-year-old was arrested on immigration violations and brought back to Canada.
Along with his conditional sentence, Stuart will have to pay back over $ 60,000 to the people he scammed.
