The NDP Member of Parliament for Vancouver-Kingsway says while a by-election win is good news for his party, the numbers spell trouble for the Tories.
Don Davies says it is a relief to have Craig Scott win Jack Layton’s old riding of Toronto-Danforth with almost 60 percent support.
But Davies notes the Conservative candidate fell from 14 percent voter support in the 2011 Federal Election to five percent in the by-election, “I think that is reflective of the difficulties the Conservatives find themselves in across the country right now. You know, wanting to raise old age security to 67, the robo-call scandal and generally, I think, poor performances on the environment and other issues have caused them to decline in numbers and I think the Danforth election reflects that.”
There was a 42 percent voter turn out in the Toronto-Danforth by-election.
