The fight to stop the proposed expansion of Vancouver’s seawall is picking up momentum.
Community activist Mel Lehan is organizing a walking tour of the area between Kitsilano and Jericho beaches.
He calls it one of the last remaining natural foreshores in the city of Vancouver.
“This area, this foreshore, is a repository for life… and when you put through a walk-way, you damage that fragile eco-system. But equally important is the space where people can go to be in nature and have a quiet and reflective experience.”
Opposition to the plans stalled the motion — it will be revisited this fall.
That’s despite anonymous donors coming forward, apparently willing to pay for part of the project.
