Former Edmonton Eskimo defensive end Adam Braidwood was arrested Sunday in Port Coquitlam during the Terry Fox Hometown Run on weapons-related charges.
According to police, Mounties were called to a break-and-enter around 10:30 a.m. at a house along the route of the Terry Fox Run. There was no robbery, but someone did enter the home and fire several shots inside the residence.
However, as officers responded to that call, another Mountie, who was on crowd-control duties for the run, spotted a man who appeared to be holding a gun.
The man was arrested without incident and the firearm was seized. Braidwood, 27, Edmonton’s first-overall pick in the 2006 Canadian College Draft, was taken to hospital with injuries and is scheduled to appear in court tomorrow.
