Pickton family drops lawsuit against government

Almost four years after it was launched, the family of serial killer Robert Pickton has dropped a lawsuit filed against the federal and BC governments.

In early 2009, Pickton’s brother Dave and sister Linda Wright filed a claim indicating their farm in Port Coquitlam was damaged during the RCMP’s search for the bodies of dozens of missing women.

On January 9th, the matter was resolved with no settlement or costs being assigned to either party involved, but no other details have been disclosed.

Ten years ago, the property was raided by police who spent nearly two years digging for evidence that helped convict the man considered Canada’s worst serial killer.

In 2007, Pickton was convicted of murdering six women, but he confessed to killing 49.
