Plane makes emergency landing after bomb threat

Korean Air says a bomb threat is to blame for the emergency landing of a Boeing 7-77 at Comox Airport Tuesday afternoon.

Flight 72, bound for Seoul, was turned around after a call to the airline’s Los Angeles Call Centre.

NORAD’s John Cornelia says U-S fighter jets were scrambled from Portland, “Two F-15 fighters under the direction of NORAD, intercepted a Korean Airlines Boeing 777 today, shortly after departing Vancouver, British Columbia, at approximately 4 pm and that was due to a potential threat associated with the aircraft.”

The flight had 149 people on board.
