A criminologist from the University of the Fraser Valley wants to represent Abbotsford-South, and he wants to do it for the BC Liberals.
Darryl Plecas has announced his intention to seek the Liberal nomination in that riding.
He says he doesn’t want to see BC go down the troubling economic path he’s seen the rest of the world doing.
Asked why he’s chosen the Liberals when Premier Christy Clark has polled so low, Plecas says that’s because people just haven’t met her.
“I think if you ask people is there something in particular that you don’t like about her, like it’s very difficult for them to come up with an answer. What I love about her as a leader, and I think we need more leaders like this in government, is she the kind of person who drives the situation. I truly believe she’s the kind of person who’s a catalyst for change.”
If he wins the nomination, he’ll be up against independent MLA John van Dongen, and NDP candidate Lakhvinder Jhaj.
