A Port Coquitlam man is fighting to keep his son’s killer behind bars.
Ryan Crossley could be given his freedom later this month, and Gord Penner is convinced he’s a high risk to re-offend.
Penner lost his son, Jesse, when the 20-year-old was stabbed outside a house party in 2006.
Crossley was convicted of manslaughter and the now-22-year-old has been behind bars since the summer of 2007.
“He has not taken any type of rehabilitation. Period. And will not partake. He had severe head injuries as a youth, substance abuse, alcohol and cocaine and his violence level is second to none,” Penner says.
Because Crossley has completed his entire six-year sentence, the father fears he will not be monitored once he’s released from custody.
