Podmore resigns from PavCo

Another change at the crown corporation responsible for overseeing BC Place and the Vancouver Convention Centre.

David Podmore has resigned as chair of the Pavillion Corporation.

Podmore says his job was to oversee construction of the Vancouver Convention Centre, refurbishment of Canada Place, and renovations to BC Place.

“But always indicated, to government and others, that once those  were complete, others should take the leadership on the marketing side.”

Marketing will be the new focus of the corporation.

Podmore is staying on through a transition phase — which will also see PavCo market regional convention centres on Vancouver Island, in the north and interior.

New appointees to the PavCo include failed Vancouver mayoral candidate Suzanne Anton, Grouse Mountain owner Stuart McLaughlin, and Michael J. Ballingall from Big White ski resort.
