Police say missing women cases on the decline

Vancouver police are telling the city’s mayor and council that since 2002 the number of cases of murdered and missing women in the Downtown Eastside has plummeted.

Deputy Chief Constable Doug Lepard says since the horror of Robert Pickton, police have an almost 100 percent success rate in solving missing women cases.

However Lepard says violence is still ongoing in that neighborhood.

City council is hearing programs and resources are being brought to bear to combat violence against women in the sex trade.
