Port Moody property taxes on the rise

If you’re a Port Moody homeowner, get ready to see a big property tax hike next year.

Mayor mike clay says the hike is likely going to be over six percent, but it is necessary to maintain existing services after population growth in recent years.

“Do you peel the band aid off slowly, or do you rip it off and get it done? That’s what we’re trying to do now.  When we look at our plan, we know that we’re falling further and further behind on our capital and asset management in the city.”

Clays says the increase will amount to an average of 117 dollars per household.
