The Heritage Vancouver Society has released its annual top ten endangered heritage sites in the city.
The number one spot goes to the main post office on West Georgia Street — and apparently, its future looks bleak.
The society says the government plans to sell the building, and since there’s no buyer yet, it could face demolition.
President Donald Luxton says it’s unfortunate Vancouver’s biggest building from the post-war era could be gone.
“It’s really a significant part of what makes Vancouver, Vancouver. And it’s part of our collective memory and our development and our history. And it’s these kinds of sights that make our city unique.”
Other endangered sites are Vancouver’s Granville Street, the Wilmar Estate on Marine Drive, and the Hollywood and Ridge movie theatres.
