Premier Christy Clark has agreed to an emergency meeting with her cabinet in Vancouver.
The B.C. Liberals are in damage control — following the ethnic strategy memo scandal that, on Friday, led to a resignation in the premier’s office.
Clark will sit down with her cabinet at 4:00 p.m. Sunday — and there’s speculation some aren’t satisfied with her handling of the ordeal.
Liberal M.L.A. Kash Heed won’t say if he’d like to see Clark step down.
“People, I hope, will maintain what we’ve discussed and call people to the carpet and hold these people accountable.”
Fellow M.L.A. John Les defends Clark.
“The most recent [incident] was something that went on obviously without her knowing about it. She’s going to deal with it. She is dealing with it. I think that’s the mark of a leader.”
Clark has accepted the resignation of her deputy chief of staff after the ethnic strategy paper was leaked by the N.D.P.
Kim Haakdstad wrote the paper in January 2012, calling on the B.C. Liberals to co-ordinate resources to focus on ethnic voters.
The plan also included a suggestion that taxpayer funded government resources be used.
