“Prince of Pot” has two years in U.S. prison sentence

Another milestone for B.C.’s self-proclaimed “Prince of Pot.”

Marc Emery has just two years left now behind bars in an American prison, serving a five-year sentence for selling marijuana seeds by mail and phone order to the U.S.

His wife, Jodie, is marking the occasion with him in Mississippi.

“Eighty-five percent of the five-year sentence – that’s July 9, 2014 (when) he would be released. But we know that next year, Marc is eligible to apply for transfer to Canadian prisons, and he’ll be doing that in April. That’s as soon as he can do it.”

She isn’t expecting a transfer to take place, citing the Harper government’s “tough on crime” agenda.
